African swine fever in Ninh Binh is developing complicatedly. Currently, swine fever has broken out on a large scale, and new outbreaks continue to arise in some localities in the province.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phap, Nam Giang village, Yen Khanh commune, Ninh Binh province shared that his family raises more than 300 fattening pigs, the investment cost is nearly 1 billion VND, the pigs are about to be sold when they contract African swine fever and must be completely destroyed.
My family had to destroy 301 animals, with a total weight of over 16.5 tons. Estimated damage is nearly 2 billion VND. Currently, the barn is abandoned, my family does not dare to invest in a new batch because there is no longer capital left" - Mr. Phap said.
Similarly, for Mr. Nguyen The Hoi's household, Nam Giang village, raising nearly 380 fattening pigs, there was only more than 1 month left until the selling period when the pigs suddenly died.
My family had to destroy 379 fattening pigs, with a total weight of over 21 tons. In the process of raising pigs, my family always strictly complies with epidemic prevention procedures, but I don't understand why pigs still contract African swine fever" - Mr. Hoi shared.

Specifically on March 11, in Phu Long and Rang Dong communes, new outbreaks continued to arise, requiring the destruction of 249 pigs with a total weight of over 8.5 tons.
Since January 1, 2026, Ninh Binh province has had to destroy a total of 5,110 pigs with a total weight of over 270 tons. Including 273 sows, breeding males and 4,837 fattening pigs and piglets. As of March 12, Ninh Binh province still has 13 communes and wards with African swine fever that has not passed 21 days.

Faced with the above situation, the Ninh Binh Department of Agriculture and Environment has directed specialized units to synchronously implement preventive measures to control and prevent the spread of swine fever. At the same time, guiding localities to seriously and drastically implement the directions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment as well as the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee on swine fever prevention and control.
In addition, continue to promote information and propaganda in many forms to help businesses and farmers understand the level of danger of the epidemic, as well as preventive measures and accurately grasp support policies from the State.
