On the morning of December 19, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee coordinated with International Transport Development Investment Joint Stock Company (ITID) to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the Cua Lo Deepwater Port Investment, Construction and Business Project in Hai Loc Commune.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Major General Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Commander of Military Region 4, representative of the Ministry of Finance; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai; members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, leaders of departments, branches, localities and representatives of the investor.
The Cua Lo Deepwater Port Project, invested by International Transport Development Investment Joint Stock Company (ITID), is identified as a strategic transport infrastructure project, playing a leverage role in the socio-economic development of Nghe An province and the North Central region.

The project has a scale of receiving ships with a capacity of 50,000 to 100,000 DWT, a 32-hectare port rear area, and a total investment (including breakwater) of about VND9,000 billion. This is the core of the modern industrial - logistics - seaport complex, playing the role of an important trade gateway for Nghe An and the North Central region.
After completion, the port will synchronously connect with major traffic routes such as National Highway 1A, National Highway 7C, North - South Expressway, North - South Railway, Vinh - Thanh Thuy Expressway, coastal road, Vinh International Airport and domestic and international sea transport routes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of International Transport Development Investment Joint Stock Company said that the project not only serves the domestic import-export demand but also aims to transit goods on the East-West economic corridor, connecting Vietnam with Laos, Northeast Thailand and Myanmar.
Representing the provincial leadership, Mr. Bui Thanh An - Permanent Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the groundbreaking ceremony is a testament to the province's strong commitment to accompanying investors. At the same time, it is recommended that investors focus resources, organize scientific construction, ensure safety, quality and progress of the project.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested relevant departments, branches and localities to proactively coordinate and promptly remove obstacles, creating the most favorable conditions for the project to be completed soon and promote efficiency.
The Cua Lo Deepwater Port Project is one of 234 key projects and works nationwide that were started, inaugurated, and opened to technical traffic on December 19, to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the National Resistance Day and the 14th National Congress of the Party.
