On July 26, Ho Chi Minh City Police coordinated with the National Population Data Center, Department C06 - Ministry of Public Security, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), Department of Immigration Management Police - Ministry of Public Security, VietNam Airlines and related units to deploy solutions for application of identification, electronic authentication and biometric identification on the VNeID application to serve the procedures for boarding flights at Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
This is a step to implement the Coordination Plan No. 380/KHPH-BCA-BXD-BTC dated June 27, 2025 between the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Finance and ACV on the application of comprehensive digital technology in the civil aviation industry. The solution helps passengers check-in, go through security gates and board the plane via VNeID integrated biometric data (face color, fingerprint), gradually replacing the traditional paperwork presentation method.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Duc Thien, Deputy Head of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order (PC06) of Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that implementing this solution brings many practical benefits to the people, while improving management efficiency, ensuring aviation security and safety.

As long as a mobile device has a VNeID application installed, passengers can perform the entire process from check-in to boarding the plane without having to bring their documents as before. This helps save time, while limiting the use of fake documents Lieutenant Colonel Ho Duc Thien emphasized.
In the context of increasing travel demand and increasingly strict security control requirements, the application of biometric technology is a step in line with the national digital transformation roadmap. From now until August 15, Ho Chi Minh City Police directed relevant professional departments such as PC06, PA08 and Tan Son Nhat Border Gate to arrange support officers at the airport to help people grasp and use this solution more quickly.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh - Information Technology Team, Station Exploitation Center, Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that the back-office server system, transmission lines and facial scanning equipment have been fully installed to ensure no interruption during the testing process.
On the first day of operation, the system operated stably, without any errors. Each passenger only takes about 5 seconds to scan their face and board the plane, instead of taking 10 minutes to check their documents as before - Mr. Linh shared.

A passenger on a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc shared after the experience: "Now I no longer have to wait in line to check in for procedures like before. Just give me a phone with VNeID, scan my face and thats it.
How to do procedures online
Method 1: For iOS device users - Check-in online via VNeID application
- Access the VNeID application → Other services → Aviation services → Check-in online.
- After agreeing to the terms and sharing the data, passengers are transferred to the Vietnam Airlines application to complete online procedures and authenticate their identity (eKYC).
Note: This feature is only available on iOS devices.
Method 2: Biometrics at the airport
- Passengers perform the procedure directly at the Vietnam Airlines counter (counter No. 5 to No. 10).
- Then, go to the security control gate to perform automatic facial recognition.
