Voters on the furthest island in An Giang province cast their first ballots

An Giang - Voters in the Tho Chau special zone came to the voting areas from early morning on March 8 to exercise their citizenship rights.

This morning, March 8, in the Tho Chau special zone, An Giang province, the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term took place.

Recorded at the southwestern frontline island, more than 200km from the mainland, voters on the island have come to the polling stations to exercise their citizenship rights. These are the first ballots of voters in An Giang province because Tho Chau was allowed by the National Election Council to organize elections 7 days earlier than the national election day according to regulations (voting on March 8th).

From early morning, people invited each other to the polling stations. At the armed forces unit, the agency divided troops to vote, to avoid being concentrated at once.

The election work took place safely and smoothly, voters were excited and confident in each ballot in hand.

According to Mr. Tran Quoc Giang - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tho Chau Special Zone, the People's Committee of the special zone has issued a Notice on listing the Official List and biography of candidates for the People's Council of the province for the 2026-2031 term at 4 constituencies (5 polling stations). Among them, 4 areas belong to people's houses and hamlet headquarters, People's Committee headquarters of the special zone, and 1 polling station at Regiment 152 (including armed forces units) with a total of 2,135 voters participating.
