On the afternoon of June 8, Son La Provincial Hydrometeorological Station (KTTV) said that the cold air mass is continuing to compress and push the low pressure trough with its axis through the Northern mountains to move southward.
Around early morning of June 9, cold air affected the southeastern area of Son La province, including Bac Yen, Phu Yen, Yen Chau, Moc Chau, Van Ho; then weakly affected other places in the province.
Due to the influence of the continental high pressure blade strengthening the compression of the low pressure trough, combined with the wind convergence zone above 1,500m level gradually strengthening, from the evening of June 8 to the end of the night of June 9, Son La will have heavy to very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms.
From June 9, the weather in Son La will turn cool, the wind will shift to Northeast level 2-3. The lowest temperature for the whole period is commonly 20-22 degrees C, especially in high mountainous areas from 19-21 degrees C.
It is forecasted that the day and night of June 9, Moc Chau, Van Ho, and Bac Yen areas will have the lowest temperature of 19-21 degrees Celsius; To Hieu, Mai Son 20-22 degrees Celsius; Quynh Nhai, Thuan Chau and Yen Chau, Phu Yen are commonly 21-23 degrees Celsius; Ma River, Sop Cop, Muong La 22-24 degrees Celsius.
In Lao Cai, according to the Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, around the evening and night of June 8, the cold air mass is forecast to compress a low pressure trough connected to the hot low pressure area in the West moving down to the North. This configuration combined with the wind convergence zone at high altitude, forming a complex of bad weather causing widespread heavy rain.
From the evening of June 8 to the morning of June 10, Lao Cai had rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms; many localities had heavy rain, some places had very heavy rain accompanied by strong thunderstorms. Rainfall for the whole period was commonly 50-100mm, with some places over 200mm.
Heavy rain was warned to concentrate on the night of June 8 and June 9 in Nghia Lo ward, Sa Pa; Communes of Luc Yen, Tran Yen, Mau A, Van Chan, Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai, Bat Xat, Bac Ha, Muong Khuong, Van Ban, Si Ma Cai and surrounding areas.
According to Cao Bang Hydrometeorological Station, on June 8, the weather will be cloudy, showers and thunderstorms in many places, intermittent sunshine. The temperature at 1:00 PM in some places will fluctuate from 23.5-28.9 degrees Celsius.
Currently, cold air has affected some areas in the province. In the late afternoon and night of June 8, the cold air mass continued to affect other areas of Cao Bang.
The weather turns cool, Northeast wind level 2-3. The lowest temperature for the whole period in Cao Bang is from 19-21 degrees C. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
In Dien Bien, according to the National Weather Station, June 9 is forecast to be cloudy, with rain, scattered moderate rain, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. Common temperature 24-30 degrees C, high mountainous areas 19-24 degrees C; humidity 55-97%.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
