Ms. Bui Ha My (from Hoa Binh province) came to Hanoi to work as an office worker. After 2 years of practicing the food business in an apartment complex, Ms. My decided to quit and switch to cooking for hire. Ms. My said that thanks to a stable number of regular customers, this is also the time when she is busiest due to the customer's order schedule during the year-end holidays.
"I have a special passion for cooking. After quitting my office job and switching to this profession, I have a stable number of customers. Now that living standards are high, people order food for all occasions of the year, from dinner at home, full moon parties, and other holidays throughout the year.
Right after the full moon of November, I received orders from many regular customers for the New Year's Eve. Working in this job during peak times is often very busy, requiring constant effort, but the income is also stable. There are times when the income reaches tens of millions of VND per day. Compared to my previous office job, I find this job brings in a good source of income and more comfortable time," Ms. Ha My shared.
Specializing in making offerings for families on important occasions, including the "specialty" of making full-month offerings for babies, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tuyen (Ung Hoa, Hanoi) - owner of an online catering establishment - said that her family usually makes offerings for a whole month, and there are always customers placing orders.
“For my store, a full-month offering tray for a baby ranges from over 1 million VND, the most expensive tray will cost around 4 million VND, depending on the customer’s needs. Most families will choose pink or orange offering trays for baby girls, while for boys, they will tend towards cool colors like green,” said Ms. Tuyen.
The basic offering tray will include a chicken, a large 3D flower jelly plate, xu xue cakes, shaped dumplings, sticky rice, sweet rice balls, betel and areca nuts, and fruits. In particular, Ms. Tuyen will come to the customer's house to arrange the offerings and carefully guide the ceremony. Customers will be served wholeheartedly, without having to prepare anything.
Also in the catering business, Ms. Le Ngoc Lan (Ha Dong, Hanoi) not only provides full month and first birthday offerings but also serves customers on other occasions such as Vu Lan festival, opening ceremony, God of Wealth day, groundbreaking ceremony, housewarming ceremony. Ms. Lan said that her customers like the vegetarian offerings most, priced from 900,000 - 1 million VND/tray or the basic offerings, priced from 1.2 - 2 million VND/tray, because the prices are reasonable and save a lot of money.
For Ms. Lan, each customer has different preferences and desires. Therefore, she is always willing to listen and adjust the menu to best suit. "Customers can also give their desired price, then I will advise and finalize the dish for them," Ms. Lan shared.
Thanks to the online catering service, many housewives feel saved on important occasions when they need to prepare meals but are too busy with children and work. Mr. Trinh Dinh Quang (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) said: “Thanks to the ready-made catering service, a young family like mine can be complete on important occasions when we need to invite guests. They do it very professionally from cooking, cleaning, preparing bowls, chopsticks, cups, glasses, and tablecloths. “I had a child when I was quite young, so studying and working at the same time kept me busy. Before, when I held a full-month celebration for my child, I contacted places that provided full-month offerings. They came to my house to prepare without me having to do anything, which helped me relax. My grandparents also gave me many compliments because the offerings looked very eye-catching,” Chau Anh shared.
