The urbanization rate accounts for over 36%, including 2 type I urban areas (Rach Gia City, Phu Quoc City), 1 type III urban area (Ha Tien City). The province has 2 airports; 12 seaports and inland waterway ports; nearly 350km of national highways, more than 860km of provincial roads, 100% of rural traffic routes are solidified; 100% of households use electricity; communication is smooth. If in 1976, poor households accounted for over 50%, now there are only 0.99%;
In terms of national defense, the province's security has always been maintained and enhanced, the sea area and southwestern border of the Fatherland have been consolidated more firmly. Foreign affairs and international integration continue to be expanded. The province signed international agreements with 12 localities of 6 countries; cooperated/operated commercially with 50 markets of countries and territories. In particular, the province maintains good cooperative relations with the authorities and armed forces of border provinces and cities in Cambodia.
