Since the end of April 2025, when route DT.177 was opened to traffic, the transportation of agricultural products by Mr. Ban Van Tinh from the center of Xin Man district to National Highway 2 in Bac Quang district to sell to traders has been shortened by more than 1/3 of the time.
"Previously, this DT.177 route was very bad, narrow and has many sharp turns, so trucks carrying goods took a lot of time, not to mention the possible dangers. Now it is convenient, there is a new road so it only takes 2 hours instead of more than 3 hours to travel," Mr. Tinh shared.
The project to renovate and upgrade DT.177 road from Bac Quang district to Xin Man district (phase I) has a total investment of 1,500 billion VND, and was started in April 2022. After 3 years of construction, the entire 43km long route has been completed.
This is one of the key projects, contributing to improving Ha Giang's transport infrastructure and is also the long-standing desire of tens of thousands of people in Hoang Su Phi and Xin Man districts to help facilitate travel and develop the socio-economy.
Not only DT.177 route, in the period of 2020-2025, many other intra-provincial transport projects such as DT.176, DT.176B, DT.178, DT.183 along with thousands of kilometers of district and commune roads in Ha Giang have been built with a total investment of more than thousands of billions of VND.
Meanwhile, the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway project, the 27km section through Ha Giang, with an investment of nearly VND3,200 billion, is also about to be completed. This is the first expressway in Ha Giang province with the expectation of creating a breakthrough in socio-economic development.
According to the Ha Giang Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, this key project has achieved and exceeded the schedule for many items. The project adjustment, raising from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, is being carried out and can be implemented in August 2025.
As expected, the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway will be completed by the end of 2025. Along with the section passing through Tuyen Quang province, it will help shorten travel time to Ha Giang and Thanh Thuy International Border Gate to promote the socio-economic development of this leading province.
Ms. Ha Thi Minh Hanh - Vice Chairman of Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee said: As for the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway, we are determined to implement and commit to completing it in accordance with the Government's direction.
"Ha Giang province has also identified key projects, prioritizing inter-provincial traffic routes, regional linkages, and handling black spots on national highways. At the same time, mobilize resources to invest in traffic projects," Ms. Hanh informed.
Transportation has been considered a bottleneck in the socio-economic development of the mountainous province of Ha Giang in recent years. By dedicating thousands of billions of VND to transport infrastructure, Ha Giang province is expecting to create a breakthrough in economic and social development and poverty reduction.
