Lai Chau holds a meeting to learn from rescue experience in the case of 5 workers' deaths

Lai Chau - On the morning of May 18, the Provincial Police held a meeting to review the experience of rescue work in the case of 5 workers dying at the hydropower plant.

Major General Nguyen Dinh Hoan - Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PCCC&CNCH) attended the meeting.

Previously, at around 10:30 a.m. on May 16, at the Ta Pa Ho 1A hydropower plant, Si Lo Lau commune, Phong Tho district, a serious landslide occurred, killing 5 workers, burying them and injuring 4 others.

After receiving the incident, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Lai Chau Provincial Police) sent 24 officers and soldiers, along with 3 specialized vehicles, rescue equipment to form working groups, using rescue and relief measures and forces to quickly approach the landslide scene.

At the meeting, Major General Nguyen Dinh Hoan warmly praised and congratulated the results of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force of Lai Chau province in the search, rescue and relief work in the landslide.

The Major General suggested that the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force should strengthen their combat operations, ensure that forces and means participate in handling fire and landslides during the rainy and stormy season; quickly review and evaluate locations at risk of fire and landslides, accidents to develop response plans...

According to Colonel Khoang Van Thuong - Deputy Director of Lai Chau Provincial Police, the landslide at Ta Pa Ho 1A hydropower plant was a particularly serious situation, occurring in complex weather and terrain conditions, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Force coordinated with functional forces and local authorities to effectively deploy rescue work, quickly finding the bodies of the victims.

Colonel Khoang Van Thuong also requested the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department to continue to learn from the incident; proactively review and develop plans and strategies to respond to natural disasters, especially in the upcoming rainy and stormy season.
