On December 18, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of La Gi town, Binh Thuan province informed about the incident of fishing boat BTh 82134Ts sinking at La Gi estuary.
Fishing boat number BTh 82134Ts has a capacity of 16 CV, including 3 workers working in fishing nets, owned and captained by Mr. N.V.T (born in 1980, residing in La Gi town).
After a fishing trip, the boat returned to shore. When the boat reached La Gi port, it ran aground, was hit by large waves and sank, and washed up on the embankment. The hull of the fishing boat was broken by the waves. When the incident happened, the 3 crew members swam safely to shore.
Previously, at the end of October, a fishing boat entering La Gi estuary ran aground and was sunk by waves.
La Gi estuary has silted up its channels, making it difficult for boats to enter and exit, especially when there are big waves. Fishing boats entering and exiting La Gi estuary are easily washed away by big waves onto the sandbars, causing the boats to break and sink.
