Fishing boat sinks in Quang Ngai, 1 fisherman dies

A Quang Ngai fishing boat was sunk by waves, leaving one crew member dead and one missing. Authorities are trying to search for the missing victims.

On November 23, Sa Huynh Border Guard Station, under the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command, informed that in Pho Thanh Ward, Duc Pho Town, a fishing boat sank at sea, killing one crew member and leaving one missing.

Previously, at 8:30 a.m. the same day, Sa Huynh Border Guard Station received information from local people about fishing boat QNg 44586 TS, operating as a trawler, owned by fisherman Ta Ngoc Dung (56 years old), in Pho Thanh ward, and 3 crew members were fishing in the waters of Pho Thanh ward, 500m from shore, when the fishing boat was suddenly sunk by waves, causing 4 crew members on board to fall into the sea.

The leader of Sa Huynh Border Guard Station informed that immediately after the ship sank, the authorities rescued 3 fishermen and brought them to shore and took them to the emergency room. However, fisherman Le Thanh Thang died, and fisherman Vo Thai Thach is missing. Currently, Sa Huynh Border Guard Station and local people are mobilizing many means to search for the missing victims. The cause of the incident is being investigated by the authorities.

Quang Ngai Hydrometeorological Station reported that from the night of November 22 to November 24, Quang Ngai province will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms. On the night of November 23 and November 24, Quang Ngai sea will have north to northeast winds at level 5, gusting to level 6, rough seas, and waves 2-3m high.
