Lao Cai supports 250,000 VND/day for people evacuated to avoid natural disasters

Lao Cai - August 5, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee issued an emergency support level for people who must be urgently relocated out of disaster areas in the area.

According to the decision, the beneficiaries of support are households and individuals who must be urgently evacuated and relocated from areas at risk of natural disasters according to the decision of competent authorities.

The support level applied is 250,000 VND/person/day, implemented throughout the time people have to be evacuated and urgently relocated according to the decision of the competent authority.

In case one subject simultaneously enjoys multiple support policies with the same content from the state budget, they are only entitled to policies with the highest level of support.

Implementation costs are guaranteed by the provincial budget.

To implement the policy, the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to guide and inspect the implementation.

In which, the Department of Finance presides over monitoring and summarizing the implementation situation, advising the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Provincial People's Council at the nearest meeting, and at the same time proposing to issue a resolution on support policies for people who must be urgently relocated from disaster-stricken areas.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for guiding communes and wards on the evacuation and urgent relocation of people; guiding the authority to issue evacuation decisions, and at the same time advising on amending and supplementing Resolution No. 11/2026/NQ-HDND dated June 29, 2026 to supplement policies to support people who must be urgently relocated from disaster-stricken areas, ensuring that support is implemented promptly after the Lao Cai Provincial People's Council approves it.

People's Committees of communes and wards in disaster-stricken areas are assigned to organize the implementation of policies for the right subjects, in accordance with regulations, publicly and transparently; and at the same time summarize funds and lists of cases approved for urgent relocation and send them to the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Finance to report to the Provincial People's Committee.

The decision takes effect from August 5, 2026.

The policy is expected to contribute to supporting people to stabilize their lives during the time of evacuation, reducing difficulties caused by natural disasters, especially in the context that Lao Cai is entering the peak of the rainy and flood season with many risks of landslides and flash floods.
