Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document requesting the Provincial Police, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the People's Committees of communes and wards to strengthen the prevention and handling of violations of the law on dikes to ensure the safety of works and flood drainage capacity during the rainy and storm season.
According to the direction, the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards must be fully responsible to the Provincial People's Committee if violations of the law on dikes occur in the managed area.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches and local authorities to urgently inspect and comprehensively review violations related to dykes.

In which, focus on handling acts such as overloaded vehicles circulating on dikes; leveling and encroaching on riverbanks and riverbeds; building houses, factories, and illegally gathering materials that obstruct flood drainage and affect the safety of dike works.
The Provincial Police directed grassroots police forces to coordinate with local authorities and specialized agencies to strengthen inspection, detection, prevention and strict handling of violations.
At the same time, ensure security and order during the process of clearance, coercion or handling of violations according to regulations.
People's Committees of communes and wards are requested to promote propaganda and mobilize people to strictly comply with regulations on dikes; resolutely handle violations under their authority thoroughly.
