On April 10, Lao Cai organized the 9th Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee Conference to assess the situation and results of task implementation in the first quarter of 2026, and discuss key task directions for the second quarter of 2026.
According to the report, in the first 3 months of 2026, despite facing many difficulties and challenges due to the general impact of the international and domestic situation, Lao Cai province still achieved many positive and comprehensive results in all fields.
Agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the province is basically stable, taking place in favorable weather conditions, ensuring the production progress of the Winter-Spring crop. Livestock maintains development, controls diseases well, and prevents widespread spread.
The value of industrial production in March 2026 is estimated at 5.691 billion VND, accumulated to the end of the first quarter of 2026 reaching 15,223.7 billion VND. The value of construction industry production achieved according to the first quarter growth scenario, at comparable prices reached 4,450 billion VND, an increase of 9.50% compared to the same period.
The total value of import and export, trading, and exchange of goods through border gates is estimated at 758.65 million USD, an increase of 15.9% compared to the same period in 2025.
Budget revenue reached 5,355 billion VND, equal to 30.5% of the central budget estimate, equal to 22.8% of the provincial budget estimate, equal to 115.4% of the same period.
Budget expenditure management reached 9,547 billion VND, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development of the province in new conditions.
Speaking at the closing of the Conference, Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary Duong Quoc Huy emphasized the requirements of the task: To firmly aim for double-digit growth, ensuring that the growth rate in the second quarter reaches 10.3% or more.
Strive to save more than 5% of recurrent expenditures. Cut at least 50% of the time to resolve administrative procedures and 50% of the cost of complying with administrative procedures in 2026.
Besides, taking care of social security and welfare, sustainable poverty reduction, practically improving the material and spiritual life and happiness index of the people. Maintaining national defense and security; firmly grasping the situation, proactively ensuring the maintenance of political security, border security, and social order and safety.
