Currently, in Nghe An province, there are 2 enterprises licensed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to send workers to work abroad under contracts.
The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An province has introduced over 50 local businesses to recruit and create a source of labor to work abroad.
In the period of 2023-2024, Nghe An province has sent 46,157 workers to work abroad under contracts, mainly in markets such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan and some other countries.
Overseas workers with fixed-term contracts who are trained in foreign languages, receive orientation courses, and have professional skills account for over 60% (mainly mechanics, welders, scaffolders, tilers, tailors, nurses, caregivers, and housekeepers); the rest are unskilled workers; about 7% of workers are college and university graduates who also participate in labor export, focusing on construction engineers, mechanical engineers, machine manufacturers, IT, and nurses with college degrees or higher.
The average income sent back by workers working abroad is from 17 to 35 million/person/month.
Many workers who return home after working abroad have high skills and continue to work at FDI enterprises with stable incomes.
The amount of foreign currency that overseas workers send back to their relatives in Nghe An province is about 600 to 650 million USD/year, contributing significantly to socio-economic development.
According to Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, the majority of local workers working abroad strictly comply with the laws of the host country, are united, have a sense of responsibility, national spirit, and actively promote the cultural identity, image, and people of Nghe An in particular and the country in general to international friends.
