Establishing a station to receive and distribute flood relief in Gia Lai

Today, the authorities continue to increase human resources to rescue people in flooded areas of Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, and deploy relief as a necessity.

Information from Military Region 5 said that military, police and border guards have mobilized more than 12,000 officers, soldiers, hundreds of vehicles, evacuated a total of more than 18,400 people to safety and are continuing to rescue at deeply flooded areas. Forces are still mobilizing to isolated communes to support people's rescue.

To prepare for post-flood recovery, the provinces have proposed that the Central Government support hundreds of billions of VND, thousands of tons of rice and essential necessities to provide relief to the people.

The Gia Lai Provincial Military Command has established a station to receive and distribute necessities on Long Van Park Road, Quy Nhon Bac Ward (old Binh Dinh Province), to promptly support people during the historic flood that is causing widespread isolation.

At the station, the authorities received food, drinking water, household items, medicine and essential items donated by businesses, agencies, and philanthropists inside and outside the province. After receiving the goods, the responsible forces quickly compiled statistics, classified and organized transportation to areas isolated by floodwaters.

The station mobilized dozens of officers, soldiers of the provincial armed forces and local youth union members to classify, package and transport goods according to the list of households provided by the locality. Each relief trip is deployed according to the principle of "right person, enough quantity, timely, safe", prioritizing households that are deeply flooded, isolated for many days and have suffered heavy damage.

In addition to distributing necessities, medical groups and youth union members also provided initial health check-ups and instructed people on disease prevention due to polluted water sources. During the mission, the medical team received a report that a 24-month-old baby had slipped and fallen into the water, turned purple and was in critical condition. The military doctors immediately approached, cleared the airway, and provided respiratory support according to the emergency procedure for children. Thanks to timely treatment, the child regained consciousness and was taken by the family to a medical facility for further monitoring.

The reception station operates continuously from 6am to 9:30pm every day.
