Taking DNA samples of 67 unidentified martyrs' graves in Quang Tri

Quang Tri - Bac Gianh Ward excavated and took DNA samples of 67 unidentified martyrs' graves at three cemeteries.

On the morning of September 12, Bac Gianh ward (Quang Tri province) organized an incense offering ceremony, excavation and sampling of remains at martyrs' graves that have not been identified for DNA testing, contributing to identifying the identity, hometown and relatives of the martyrs.

Before conducting the excavation, the delegates offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

The activity is implemented within the framework of "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains" of the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Quang Tri province.

According to the plan, from September 12-14, Bac Gianh ward will organize the collection of remains samples for 67 martyrs' graves that have not been identified.

In which, Quang Phuc Martyrs' Cemetery has 41 graves, Quang Tho Martyrs' Cemetery has 20 graves and Quang Thuan Martyrs' Cemetery has 6 graves.

The participating forces include a biological sample taking team led by medical staff; a digital information department in charge of the Ward Military Command; excavation teams and police forces to ensure security and safety.

The excavation and sampling process is carried out according to professional procedures. Along with that, information digitization is deployed synchronously to update data and manage martyr remains sample information according to the instructions of superiors.

The samples after being taken are preserved and temporarily stored, then transported and handed over to the DNA testing unit according to regulations, serving the identification of martyrs' identities, hometowns and relatives.
