The marine aquaculture point in the Van Don 1 bridge area (Cap Tien village, Van Don special zone) currently has about 25 households raising fish in cages, mainly yellow-legged standard fish, perch and perch.
On October 13, after discovering yellow-legged arrests and fish in cages dead in large numbers, many households reported to local authorities about the situation.
On October 17, the local government took 3 dead fish samples and sent them to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Ninh province for testing and determining the cause.
Ms. Dang Thi Vy - Department of Disease Management, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Ninh province - said: " test results show that all fish samples are negative for VNN disease (viral neuropathy).
Currently, the specialized agency continues to collect samples of dead fish from 3 other households in the area to determine the cause and is waiting for testing results".

On October 21, units under the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Institute of Fisheries Research I coordinated to collect additional water samples and fish samples to test the possibility of infection with viruses, bacteria, fungi or parasites.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, a cage fish farmer in Cau Tien village, said: "Since October 11, my family's fish have started to die in large numbers, then died en masse, mainly yellow-rooted arrests. Some fish have the phenomenon of winking when dead.
We hope that the authorities will soon have a conclusion so that we fishermen can learn from experience in aquaculture, avoiding damage in further farming seasons".
The People's Committee of Van Don Special Zone has directed specialized agencies to instruct people to collect and destroy dead fish in accordance with regulations, absolutely do not throw fish carcasses into the sea and clean and disinfect cages and farming tools to prevent widespread spread.
The government is also coordinating with farming households to count the damage and clarify the cause of the fish death phenomenon.
The relevant industry recommends that farming households need to fully declare initial production, this is an important basis for managing farming areas and considering support when damage occurs due to natural disasters or epidemics.
