On October 21, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung (Cap Tien village, Van Don special zone) reported to Lao Dong Newspaper about the situation of fish raised in cages and cages of his family that have died for many days.
According to Mr. Tung, the phenomenon of dead fish appeared after a long period of heavy rain. "It is possible that due to heavy rain, the salinity of the sea water will change, causing the fish to be shocked," said Mr. Tung.
The dead fish were mainly yellow-throated arrests, some of which were parallel fish. The family has reported the incident to the local authorities and is counting the damage.
According to information from the People's Committee of Van Don Special Zone, the authorities have received feedback from many fish cage farming households in the sea area under Bridge 1 (Cap Tien village) about the mass fish deaths, of unknown cause.
The dead fish were mainly yellow-rumped arrests, raised for about 5-6 months.

The local government has directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with the Public Service Management Board to inspect the scene, count the damage, take fish samples and send them to the Quang Ninh Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine for testing to determine the cause.
Request specialized agencies to instruct people to collect and treat dead fish in accordance with regulations, not to throw fish carcasses into the sea or public areas; at the same time, promptly announce test results and warn of disease risks (if any).
The Van Don Public Service Management Board also requested villages and marine fish farming areas to increase propaganda and strictly implement comprehensive disease prevention measures
People are advised to temporarily stop releasing new varieties in areas with dead fish until the environment is confirmed safe.
Farmers need to monitor the health of the fish herd, reduce the density of farming during the changing seasons; regularly clean cages, clear water flows, and limit local pollution. Avoid scratching effects, creating conditions for bacteria and fungi to invade the fish.
Infected cages must be quarantined, so they can hang bags of medicine at the water source or bathe fish with antibacterial solutions, and clean nets and tools regularly.
Absolutely do not use drugs or chemicals outside the permitted list, do not use human medicine to treat fish.
People need to monitor weather developments and the situation of aquatic diseases, proactively taking preventive measures. When detecting unusual signs of the fish, you must immediately report it to the veterinary and aquatic authority for inspection and testing samples.
