Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) is organizing public posting and collecting community opinions on the route plan, construction location and 1/500 scale dossier of the 2A extended urban railway project, Ha Dong - Xuan Mai section.

According to MRB, the dossier of the TOD model urban railway project line 2A extended (Ha Dong - Xuan Mai) is posted in localities where the line passes through for agencies, organizations, individuals and residential communities to study and contribute opinions.

Opinions on the route plan and location of works according to the route will be received by the locality and sent to MRB.

According to the research orientation, the project is implemented to expand the urban space to the Southwest, taking the metro line as a driving force for development along National Highway 6 - Xuan Mai, thereby contributing to consolidating the role of the western gateway urban area and forming a multi-center urban model, developing in clusters.

Notably, the project is oriented to develop according to the TOD model (urban development associated with public transport).

According to the announced plan, TOD zones are studied around 6 key terminals, with a total area of about 450 hectares, integrating housing, commercial, office, park and social infrastructure functions.

The extension of the 2A line from Yen Nghia to Xuan Mai is expected to strengthen the connection between the central area of Hanoi and the Southwest, while creating momentum for Xuan Mai urban development according to the planning orientation.

Previously, Hanoi included the project to extend the 2A metro line to Xuan Mai in the list of urban railway projects to be implemented in the 2026-2030 period.

The project is oriented to be implemented synchronously with traffic infrastructure projects on National Highway 6, contributing to improving investment efficiency and regional traffic connectivity.

Representatives of the Hanoi Department of Construction said that line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong is Hanoi's first elevated metro line to be put into commercial operation from November 2021. The line is 13.05 km long, including 12 elevated stations from Cat Linh to Yen Nghia, the total run time of the entire line is about 23 minutes.

Since entering commercial operation, route 2A has served nearly 53 million passengers, increasingly proving the superiority of large-volume, civilized, and modern public transport.

The extension of the 2A route from Ha Dong to Xuan Mai will contribute to completing the route according to the plan, creating a continuous traffic axis about 33 km long. The project is expected to connect Xuan Mai satellite city with the capital center, reduce congestion on National Highway 6, promote urban development according to the TOD model and improve the quality of life of people.
