Regarding the 2024 Crab Festival event held in the local area, tourists are "red-eyed" searching for crabs, Mr. Lê Ngọc Thạch - Chairman of the Cam Ranh People's Committee (Khánh Hòa) acknowledged shortcomings in the organization process and will draw experience to organize future events.
Surrounding the commotion about establishing a record of 120 dishes made from Cam Ranh crabs, but locals and the press were not allowed to attend, the Cam Ranh People's Committee leadership explained that the event was a cooking competition to establish a record, as the space in the conference hall was limited, and people could not access it. This was also a shortcoming of the organizing committee.
The Cam Ranh People's Committee leadership further informed that in the initial organization work, it was carried out very systematically, with a link to each household business preparing food and beverages, ensuring a stable quantity and price of crabs.
However, in the area for display and sale, there were some limitations. The reason is that when the crabs were brought out, they needed a certain amount of water, oxygen, and rapid transportation, so businesses could not prepare in time...
Earlier, on the evening of August 9, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Cam Ranh Crab Festival had taken place. Notably, the area for display and sale had nearly 100 stalls, but only one stall sold crabs and local seafood.
The remaining stalls were mostly decorative items, household goods, fast food, fish cakes, and drinks. The fact that the crab festival had limited crab sales left many tourists disappointed and returning home.
