Highly concentrated on digging mountains and drilling tunnels
It is currently the rainy season. However, at the construction site of the Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon Expressway project, officers, engineers and workers are still being mobilized to the maximum to complete the set goals.
Tunnel No. 3 has now dug nearly 2,000m in the left tunnel and more than 2,180m in the right tunnel. Engineers and workers are working hard in difficult construction conditions to strive to clear Tunnel No. 3 before April 30, 2025.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh - a worker on the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway said: "The heavy rain lasted for a long time, so the construction process encountered difficulties, but we tried our best to overcome them so that the work went smoothly and fully met the schedule."
In the rainy season in the Central region, road construction encountered obstacles, so contractors flexibly shifted construction directions to building bridges and culverts, focusing on digging mountains and drilling tunnels.
Mr. Hoang Dinh Thinh - Head of the North Steering Committee of Tunnel No. 3 - Deo Ca Group said: "The construction team of Tunnel No. 3 mobilized more personnel as well as increased 50 motor vehicles to ensure the progress set by the Prime Minister".
Ready to remove obstacles
To carry out the peak period of 500 days and nights to complete 3,000km of expressway, the investor and contractor of Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway mobilized nearly 4,200 personnel and 1,700 machines and equipment, implementing construction "3 shifts and 4 teams" on the entire route. Due to the urgent project progress requirement to open the tunnel by April 30, 2025 and complete the project in 2025 as launched by the Prime Minister in the emulation campaign "500 days to complete 3,000km of North-South expressway", the contractor organized the construction in a rolling manner, spraying concrete mortar, installing waterproofing and reinforcing the tunnel shell as the tunnel was dug.
For the tunnel section alone, engineers work in shifts 24/7. Quang Ngai Province also closely coordinates with the investor and construction unit to resolve remaining problems.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Dang Vinh - Chairman of Tu Nghia District People's Committee expressed: "During the construction process of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project, if there are any problems that require the contractor and construction unit to coordinate with the government, the district will always accompany the people, investors and contractors to focus on directing the handling of problems."
To date, the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project has achieved a construction output of more than 6,400 billion VND and strives to complete about 61% of the total contract volume in 2024. Of which, tunnel No. 1 and tunnel No. 2 will be completed, 63/77 bridges will be completed, and asphalt concrete will be deployed simultaneously on all 3 packages XL1, XL2 and XL3 to complete the project by the end of 2025.
According to Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, "Quang Ngai is very happy to have contributed and fulfilled the commitment to the Prime Minister in the story to ensure the ground for construction, and at the same time active materials for construction, contributing to the project to the destination as planned".
