According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, at many locations in front of gas stations located on National Highway 1 such as Thach Long intersection (Thach Ha district), gas station in Dau Lieu ward (Hong Linh town), the point at the foot of the National Highway 1 overpass in Thach Dai commune (Ha Tinh city)... many people stood and sat waiting for passenger buses.
Standing with his wife waiting for a bus for nearly an hour but still unable to catch a bus to Binh Duong, Mr. Tong Tran Anh (40 years old, from Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province) said that the day before Tet, he and his wife returned home from Binh Duong, the bus fare for the two of them was 3.2 million VND.
Now that Tet is over, he and his wife are taking a bus back to Binh Duong, but many buses are full so the bus company is not taking any more passengers. Therefore, he and his wife are continuing to wait for a bus with empty seats, accepting that the ticket price may be higher than before Tet.
“On the way back, I contacted some buses to book tickets in advance, but they said they were sold out. So now I have to accept the difficult journey of taking a bus across the road,” Anh shared.
Mr. Anh and his wife work as workers in Binh Duong. From February 3, the company will resume operations, but because they are far from their hometown, they asked to return to work 2 days later than other workers.
Also waiting for a bus in front of the gas station in Dau Lieu ward (Hong Linh town), Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Linh (32 years old) said that she and her two children were waiting to catch a bus to Dong Nai province.
“I have been waiting for over an hour but have not been able to catch a bus. I have flagged down many buses but they did not stop to pick up passengers. It must be because the buses are already full,” Linh shared.
According to Ms. Linh, through contact, she knows that the ticket price to Dong Nai is currently about 1.4 million VND/person, but because she did not book in advance, now she and her mother are having difficulty catching a bus across the street like this.
Ms. Linh is a worker at a shoe manufacturing company in Dong Nai. Since February 3, the company has resumed operations, but Ms. Linh asked to go to work a few days late because her hometown is far away and it takes a lot of time to travel.
