The Tay Thang Long trunk road is about 34.17km long, starting point at Vo Chi Cong street, ending point intersecting National Highway 32, passing through 10 communes and wards.
The current investment status of the entire route is divided into 9 sections, including 3 sections that have been put into operation, 2 sections under construction, 1 section preparing to start construction and 3 sections under research and investment preparation.
To date, about 6.08km has been completed and put into operation; about 9km is under construction; preparations for the commencement of the Tay Thang Long - Ring Road 3 underpass, 0.92km long (expected in August 2026); and at the same time, preparations for investment in the remaining route sections are being implemented.



For the section from Ring Road 3 to Van Tien Dung road, it is more than 3.2km long, with a total investment of more than 2,300 billion VND, of which site clearance costs are about 1,673 billion VND.
The section from Ring Road 3 to Van Tien Dung street was started many years ago, but due to problems in site clearance, it is behind schedule.
It will not be until June 2026 that site clearance work will be basically completed.
According to Dong Ngac Ward People's Committee, to date, 100% of agricultural land has been cleared.
Regarding residential land, all 454 households have been counted and mobilized to hand over land. Many households have received compensation money. Demolition work is being implemented, expected to be completed in June 2026.
Regarding construction work, Dong Ngac Ward People's Committee said that the volume of the entire route has only reached about 65%. Some items such as bridges, drainage systems and technical trenches have been deployed, but the overall progress is still slow.






The section from Ring Road 3.5 to Dan Hoai canal (belonging to O Dien commune) is 5.8km long, with a total investment of 1,298 billion VND.
To date, the land area recovered for site clearance has reached over 95%; site clearance is expected to be completed in June 2026 and the project to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Regarding the Tay Thang Long road project, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Tran Duc Thang requested the Party Committee and People's Committee of the City to direct departments, branches, and localities to focus on accelerating the implementation progress of the entire route, ensuring synchronous investment and interconnection of the entire route to Ring Road 5 (Vinh Thinh bridge), striving to complete it in 2027.
Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang also requested to urgently complete investment procedures for the remaining route sections; agreed to assign the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the focal point for implementing the overall project.
