Ring Road connecting Bac Giang
The Ring Road V project, connecting Phu Binh district (Thai Nguyen) with Tan Yen district (Bac Giang) has been implemented since 2021. This is a section of the road project with a length of more than 330km passing through 8 localities with a total investment of VND 86,000 billion.
In Thai Nguyen, the project is nearly 7km long, with an average road surface width of 22.5m and a total investment of 700 billion VND.

According to the construction unit (236 Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company), the roadbed has reached 99% of the volume; the road foundation is equipped with crushed stone and has reached 80%; the asphalt concrete road surface has reached 45%; the drainage system has reached 100%; the Canh Chinh bridge and Canh Troi bridge projects have reached 100% of the volume.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025. After completion, the route will connect the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway with National Highway 37 and Bac Giang province, and at the same time connect Yen Binh Complex, Phu Binh District with Bac Giang Province.
Regional link road
The Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang - Vinh Phuc regional connecting road is over 42km long, with a total investment of nearly VND4,000 billion. The route started construction in mid-2022, starting at Dong Cao commune (Pho Yen) and ending at the intersection with provincial road 261 (Dai Tu).

After nearly 3 years of implementation, the shape of the road has gradually emerged. The items of roadbed filling, crushed stone aggregate, and asphalt paving are all on schedule. Along the entire route, hundreds of workers and machinery are working day and night to construct overpasses.
The route is expected to be completed in 2025, helping to synchronize traffic infrastructure, connecting Thai Nguyen and neighboring areas.
The 1,600 billion VND road connecting Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang
The 29km long Ho Chi Minh road project, Cho Chu - Trung Son intersection connecting Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang, started construction in June 2024. The project starts at Cho Chu (Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen) and ends at Trung Son intersection (intersection with National Highway.2C, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang).
The project is built according to technical standards for a grade III mountainous road, with a design speed of 60km/h, a scale of 2 lanes, a roadbed of 9 meters wide, and the section passing through Trung Son is 14 meters wide.
According to the reporter's records, workers and machinery were mobilized to level the ground, underpasses, box culverts, and overpasses.

Mr. Nong Hong Nham - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Chu commune (Dinh Hoa district) said that the Ho Chi Minh road project through Thai Nguyen is 12km long. Of which, it passes through 5/6 hamlets of Phuc Chu commune. Up to now, the site clearance work has been basically completed. People hope the route will be completed soon to shorten travel time through Tuyen Quang.
Proposal to build a highway
In mid-February 2025, the two provinces of Thai Nguyen and Lang Son worked and agreed to advise on the proposal to invest in the new Lang Son - Thai Nguyen road, about 70km long, according to the scale of the 4-lane expressway. The minimum speed of the route is designed to be 80 km/h.
The expressway is expected to have a starting point in Lang Son and an ending point in Thai Nguyen. The project connection location between the two provinces is within the administrative boundaries of Tan Thanh commune (Bac Son district) and Phuong Giao commune ( Vo Nhai district).
