In early October 2025, the impact of storm No. 10 caused floodwaters to rise, overflowing into Lang Chut village (Van Ban commune), burying 30 houses, and many civil works were heavily damaged.
After the storm and flood, the ever-green fields have been covered with a thick layer of sand, and the previously crowded residential areas have become messy sand dunes.
Along the road to the hamlet, white sand stretched, burying almost the entire first floor of many houses, along with wells, bathrooms, barns, and fish ponds.

According to PV's records at the beginning of January 2026, after many months since the serious flood, the lives of people in Lang Chut village have gradually stabilized again.
Affected households are arranged and supported with accommodation, basic living is guaranteed; children return to school, and a part of the production area is restored.
However, the large amount of sand silted up after the flood is still a problem, requiring localities to soon have a fundamental handling plan, both to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and to ensure long-term social security.

Many people expressed their agreement with the policy of collecting, treating and maximizing the amount of sand silted up after the flood.
Ms. Hoang Thi Van (Van Ban commune) said that the large amount of sand being silted around the residential area, if left for a long time, will continue to affect life and production.
We people hope that the collection and auction of sand will be implemented soon, with close supervision, to both overcome the consequences of natural disasters and have more funds to support people to stabilize their lives for a long time," Ms. Van said.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Hoang Van Hung, a local resident, shared that sand treatment needs to be associated with clearing the stream and ensuring traffic and production safety.
We just hope the government has a clear plan, doing it step by step surely, so that people can feel secure and stabilize their lives," Mr. Hung said.
According to Mr. Hoang Thanh Trieu - Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Lang Chut village, the whole village has 30 households affected by houses due to floods, of which 2 households were completely collapsed, 23 households were silted up by sand and soil from 2-3m. Nearly 14 hectares of fields were buried, and the irrigation and clean water systems were seriously damaged.

Local statistics show that floods have swept more than 100,000m3 of golden sand into Lang Chut, estimated value of about 30-35 billion VND.
On January 13, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vu Xuan Thuy - Chairman of Van Ban Commune People's Committee said that the locality has currently relocated people to safe places, supported households who lost their homes, and at the same time coordinated with departments and branches of the province to develop a plan to handle the silted sand.
With such a large volume of sand, it cannot be discarded but needs to be recovered reasonably. The locality is proposing to request funding to collect and gather sand, and then report to the province for consideration of an auction plan," Mr. Thuy said.

According to the Chairman of Van Ban Commune People's Committee, the cost of collection and transportation is estimated at over 10 billion VND.
If an auction of about 100,000m3 of sand is organized, the revenue could reach nearly 30 billion VND; after deducting expenses, the rest will be paid to the State budget, and at the same time create room to support disaster recovery.
