On March 17, information from Ninh Thuan General Hospital said that two victims in the accident on the Truong Nguyen 18 ship were awake and in stable health after a period of intensive treatment.
The two patients include captain Bui Van Quy (48 years old, from Hai Phong) and crew member Thai Van Thinh (25 years old, from Nghe An). Previously, both were brought to the hospital in a state of coma and respiratory failure.

Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Khanh - Department of Intensive Care - Poison Control said that as soon as they were received, patients were supported with oxygen breathing and comprehensive treatment measures were applied.
To date, both are awake, no brain or other organ sequelae are recorded, and are currently transferred to the General Internal Medicine Department for continued monitoring.
According to the story of captain Bui Van Quy, at about 3:30 pm on March 16, a deputy chief engineer went down to the node tunnel area to check but did not return.
Suspecting an incident, other crew members went down to search one after another. Due to the oxygen-deficiency environment and stuffy air, many people were shocked and unconscious. During the rescue, the captain himself fainted and was taken to the emergency room.
Previously, on the evening of March 16, the Border Guard Command of Khanh Hoa province received a report from a maritime agent of NTK Shipping Agent Sea Co., Ltd. about the Truong Nguyen 18 ship (registration number HP 3867) carrying 11 people, on a journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Ca Na.
When 5 people were suspected of being suffocated by gas in the engine room, the ship urgently docked at Trung Nam - Ca Na port. Functional forces approached the scene, determined that 2 people died on the spot, and 2 people were taken to the emergency room.
The inspection process later discovered another victim (not a crew member) trapped under the water tank, a flooded area, lacking oxygen.
Rescue forces have deployed many measures such as pumping water, using specialized equipment to access narrow spaces. At about 7:30 am on March 17, the victim's body was finally taken out.
The accident killed 3 people, including Tran Duc Tai (45 years old), Tran Xuan Dung (55 years old) and Le Van De (47 years old). The cause of the incident is being further investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
