Current status of flood developments
According to the National Hydrometeorological Forecasting Center, the flood on Thao River in Yen Bai is receding but is still above the historical flood level of 1968 (34.42m); in Phu Tho it is changing slowly.
Water levels at 1:00 a.m. on September 11 on rivers are as follows:
On Thao River in Yen Bai 35.27m, on BD3 (alarm 3) 3.27m, 0.85m above the historical flood level in 1968 (34.42m); in Phu Tho 18.23m, on BD2 0.03m;
On Cau River at Dap Cau 6.99m, above BD3 0.69m; On Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong 7.01m, above BD3 0.71m; - On Luc Nam River at Luc Nam 6.04m, below BD3 0.26m. On Lo River at Tuyen Quang 27.65m, above BD3 1.65m; at Vu Quang 20.71m, above BD3 0.21m.
On Hoang Long River at Ben De 4.37m, above level 3 0.37m; On Thai Binh River at Pha Lai 5.69m, below level 3 0.31m; On Red River in Hanoi 10.54m, above level 2 0.04m.
Forecast for the next 12 hours
Floods on Thao River in Yen Bai continue to decrease but remain above level 3; in Phu Tho, they change slowly to level 2.
Floods on the Lo River in Tuyen Quang are likely to peak at 27.80m, 1.80m above BD3 early this morning (September 11) and then slowly recede; in Vu Quang, they will continue to rise and peak at 21.00m, 0.50m above BD3 at noon today (September 11) and then recede;
Floods on Cau River continue to rise and stay above level 3. Floods on Thuong River will change slowly above level 3. Floods on Luc Nam River will recede slowly but remain above level 2.
Flood on Thai Binh River continues to rise to level 3. Flood on Hoang Long River will change slowly above level 3.
Floods on the Red River in Hanoi are likely to peak at noon on September 11 and above level 2.
In the next 12-24 hours, the flood on Thao River in Yen Bai will continue to slowly recede but still above level 3; in Phu Tho it will slowly recede below level 2. The flood on Lo River in Tuyen Quang will slowly recede but still above level 3; in Vu Quang it will recede but still above level 2.
Flood on Cau River at Dap Cau continues to rise slowly above level 3. Flood on Thuong River changes slowly above level 3. Flood on Luc Nam River changes slowly above level 2. Flood on Thai Binh River continues to rise slowly above level 3.
Floods on the Hoang Long River will recede slowly but remain above level 3. Floods on the Red River in Hanoi will recede slowly and remain below level 2.
Warning
In the next 12 to 24 hours, the water level at downstream stations of the Red River - Thai Binh River system will rise to level BD3 and above BD3. Rising flood water levels will cause flooding in low-lying areas along the river, alluvial areas outside the main dike, causing the riverside dikes to overflow, and landslides to seriously affect vulnerable locations in the dike system, embankments, and riverside works in the following provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh.
Warning of flood risk, possibility of other natural disasters. High risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers in the provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Hoa Binh; flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas of the North.
Flood impact warning: Floods on rivers and streams cause flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, river banks are encroached by water, many areas of floating land in the middle of the river are deeply flooded, affecting waterway traffic, aquaculture, agricultural production and socio-economic activities, especially in the lower reaches of the Red River - Thai Binh River.
