According to information from the Central Hydrometeorological Station, from 1:00 a.m. this morning - October 28, floods on rivers in Da Nang and Quang Ngai have peaked and are slowly receding. However, the development of floods is still complicated.
Many key traffic routes through Da Nang and Quang Ngai continue to have serious landslides. Ho Chi Minh Road and Truong Son Dong Road - two routes connecting the Central Highlands region from north to south, currently have 5 traffic jams, the authorities are urgently fixing them to open a section overnight.

On Ho Chi Minh Road, through Da Nang City and Quang Ngai Province, there were many serious landslides. The traffic management unit has mobilized maximum forces and means to handle the situation. By the afternoon of October 27, most of the landslides had been repaired and temporarily opened to traffic in one direction. The landslide at Km1407+800 - Km1407+950, Lo Xo Pass, Ho Chi Minh Road (Dak Plo Commune, Quang Ngai Province) is still completely blocked because rocks and soil continue to flow onto the road.
The Truong Son Dong route through Da Nang and Quang Ngai has 6 landslides, of which 3 points (Km10.+060, Km114+180 and Km166+130) have been temporarily opened to traffic, the remaining 3 points (Km23+940, Km34+930 and Km9+400, Da Nang) are still cut off due to rocks and soil from the positive slope overflowing onto the road. Management teams are approaching the scene and making efforts to fix it.

The Ho Chi Minh road section La Son - Hoa Lien, part of the project to expand to a highway, also cracked, sank and collapsed in many locations such as Km50+700, Km50+800, Km44+800. At Km14 (belonging to Hue City), the route was deeply flooded, the Traffic Police temporarily blocked the road at Hoa Lien roundabout to ensure safety.
Faced with the complicated flood situation, Road Management Area III has requested affiliated units to urgently clear rocks and soil, clear sewers, ensure drainage and traffic safety.
In particular, in the Lo Xo Pass area, a serious landslide caused 37 vehicles, more than 50 drivers and bus assistants to be isolated between the two landslides. Ngoc Hoi Traffic Police and the SOS Group of Lo Xo Pass overcame the rain and wind, deep mud, providing bread, instant noodles, dry food and drinking water to drivers who had been stuck for many days.
The authorities said they will continue to provide relief, organize cooking to bring hot rice to the pass and coordinate with Road Management Area III to soon reopen traffic on October 28, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
