On June 12, the Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City - VTV9 organized a seminar on "Shined - Compact - Strong Journalism" with the participation of representatives of management agencies, leaders of press agencies, journalists and experts in the industry.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Tu Luong - Director of the Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City, commented that the seminar was not only topical but also a forum for sharing towards the development of the press industry in the new development stage. In particular, in the period of urgent implementation of streamlining the apparatus and optimizing resources, the problem of press economics is becoming increasingly urgent.
According to Mr. Tu Luong, when organizing the arrangement and naming of press agencies according to the "streamlining - compactness - strengthening" orientation, it is necessary to synchronously solve many problems to ensure political, legal, professional and public identification efficiency. In particular, it is necessary to unify the regulations on naming press agencies after the merger.
In particular, the new name needs to clearly demonstrate the functions, scope and governing body. Prioritize retaining a strong brand that has long been in good standing, avoiding creating new changes that cause disruption and public recognition.
At the same time, ensure consistent identification, the press name does not cause confusion about management level, nature (official press or internal newsletters); has its own identity, associated with political tasks and service subjects; simple, easy to remember, easy to identify on multiple platforms.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nham - Editor-in-Chief of PTTH Station and Binh Phuoc Newspaper, said that the agreement to take the name when merging the Newspaper and PTTH Station of Binh Phuoc province 6 years ago was a headache for the leaders at that time.
"The new name requires clearly seeing it as a press agency, not a media unit. At the same time, how can both newspapers and radio feel that they are not "lost" in it and make it convenient to call out their names. From there, Binh Phuoc province decided to name the TV Station and Binh Phuoc Newspaper," Ms. Nham shared.

Similarly, journalist Le Hong Phuoc - Editor-in-Chief of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, said that choosing to name the new unit after the merger was also discussed very carefully, because there are many things to be concerned about, including the requirements such as the new name to maintain the identity and strengths of each press agency.
"Each professional brother who is in the same profession also hopes to keep a part of the name of the old press agency when merging. From there, Long An province chose a harmonious naming solution, with both newspaper and radio names," journalist Le Hong Phuoc shared.
From another perspective, Mr. Sam Viet An - Editor-in-Chief of Cao Bang Newspaper - said that Cao Bang is one of the pioneering localities in merging press agencies. And naming is also an issue that the provincial leaders are concerned about.
Mr. An said that when merging and naming, Cao Bang province also looked at the model of previous units such as Binh Phuoc and Quang Ninh provinces. However, after consideration, the province decided to choose the name Cao Bang Newspaper because it is concise, easy to identify and not disoriented.
Mr. An explained that broadcasting is also a type of press, so the name Cao Bang Newspaper includes both print, electronic, radio and television newspapers.
"After the merger, we still maintain all the contents of the radio and television program and the activities of print and electronic newspapers. The content is still kept the same, without any problems," Mr. An shared.
