On August 6, a homestay renter at The Sóng building (Thắng Tam ward, Vũng Tàu city) posted on social media about the fact that this apartment is equipped with camera, but the service provider did not inform the customer, causing public attention.
According to the content of the complaint from account L.L, this person rented a homestay but was not informed that it was equipped with a camera. When discovering 2 cameras, and contacting account Khánh Vân (the service provider for renting the apartment), they were replied with "The Sóng is fully equipped with cameras".
The above content has caused many opinions, with many people criticizing the fact that cameras were installed without informing the renters, which may affect the personal image and private image of the renters.
At the same time, the homestay business group in Vũng Tàu city also expressed their discontent with the response from account Khánh Vân, as it affects the business of many people. Some customers have canceled their bookings to rent apartments in the building when the information appeared on social media.
A content with an image, believed to be related to the apartment owner, was shared on some social media groups explaining that the cameras were installed for security purposes, mainly to detect people entering and leaving the apartment, as the apartment had previously been broken into. When discovered, the renters removed and destroyed the cameras.
According to the Management Board of The Sóng building, the incident did occur, but there were no complaints, so the parties involved resolved the issue on their own.
A leader of Thắng Tam Ward's People's Committee also stated that they had not received any information about complaints from citizens regarding the incident. The incident caused a stir on social media, and the Thắng Tam Police Department has been investigating the matter.
