The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has just issued Decision No. 127/QD-UBND approving the Detailed Planning task of Foreign Trade University.
The planning area is located in Dong Nguyen ward, Tu Son city, with a planning area of about 33.66 hectares.
Regarding the need to establish a grassroots planning in Bac Ninh, according to a report by Foreign Trade University, the School is a high-quality human resource training institution for the State, but currently the facilities and campus of the school at the 3 facilities are still limited.
The school's current training scale is about 20,000 students (the Hanoi campus alone has about 15,000 students).
In the next 10 years, the entire scale of the school is expected to reach about 30,000 students.
On the other hand, the Hanoi campus has no football fields, swimming pools, or dormitories, which are very small, only meeting the needs of students (about 1,000 seats), the Ho Chi Minh City campus has no sports training grounds, no dormitories, the Quang Ninh campus has a small and degraded dormitory... The working area for lecturers in some departments, rooms, and departments is still small, so it does not meet the working needs.
Therefore, the establishment of a detailed plan as a basis for implementing the project to expand the training facilities of Foreign Trade University in Bac Ninh province is appropriate and necessary.
The target for students and teachers at Bac Ninh facilities is expected to be in phase I from 2026 - 2030, the total training target will reach about 5,500 students (excluding the number of staff and lecturers of about 380 people).
In phase II from 2030 - 2040, the total target of full-time student training and joint training will reach about 12,000 students (excluding about 820 staff and lecturers).
In the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Bac Ninh will form university urban areas to attract higher education institutions from Hanoi Capital to move to or build branches in the province.
Currently, the Hanoi Law University campus 2 project is under construction with an area of nearly 28 hectares in Tu Son city (Bac Ninh province), with a total investment of more than 1,700 billion VND.
The project to build campus 2 in Bac Ninh of the schools: University of Pharmacy, University of Natural Resources and Environment is also in the process of implementation.
On February 14, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province Vuong Quoc Tuan signed and issued a Plan to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo and the Government's Action Program on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
According to this plan, Bac Ninh will build a series of works: University urban area, scientific research areas and institutes to serve the development of science, technology and innovation with a total area of 1,300 hectares.
