On the first working day after the National Day holiday on September 2nd, traffic in Hanoi encountered many difficulties when many roads were congested. Among them, on Vinh Tuy bridge (direction from the inner city to Long Bien), serious congestion occurred.
Sharing with PV, Mr. Trung Nguyen (Hanoi) said that on the morning of September 3rd, he planned to go from Nga Tu So to Thach Ban (Long Bien ward) for work, however, as soon as he reached Ring Road 2 elevated at the entrance near Nga Tu So, moving was extremely difficult.
According to Mr. Nguyen, he went to Ring Road 2 elevated at 7:30 am and spent about 1 hour to get from Nga Tu So to the Times City area.
As soon as I got off Ring Road 2, I turned right to Minh Khai because in front of the access road to Vinh Tuy bridge, vehicles moved very slowly, sometimes standing still. I had to postpone my work schedule to the afternoon because I didn't want to waste time stuck on the bridge," Mr. Trung Nguyen shared.
As for Mr. Hoang Anh Tu (Hanoi), because he had urgent work, he still decided to go up Vinh Tuy bridge to go to Long Bien even though the road was very congested.
According to Mr. Tu, it took him nearly 2 hours by car from the beginning of the bridge on Minh Khai street to the end of Vinh Tuy bridge.
At first, I thought there was an accident or an incident on the bridge, so the traffic jam was so terrible. But after crossing the bridge, I saw that most vehicles were stuck at the underpass construction site on Dam Quang Trung street.
I think only when this project is completed will traffic jams be over," Mr. Hoang Anh Tu shared.
Not only Mr. Tu and Mr. Trung Nguyen, on the morning of September 3rd, many drivers (mainly car drivers) posted on traffic fanpages to warn about congestion on Vinh Tuy bridge, and at the same time advised anyone planning to cross the bridge from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM to change their route.
According to some people, in fact, congestion on Vinh Tuy bridge towards Long Bien has continuously occurred recently, partly due to the narrowing of Co Linh and Dam Quang Trung roads due to the construction of Co Linh tunnel.
Previously, to reduce traffic volume and traffic conflicts causing traffic congestion on Dam Quang Trung street (section from Co Linh intersection to National Highway 5), the Hanoi Department of Construction implemented a pilot plan to adjust traffic organization on this street and surrounding areas.
The pilot implementation time starts from August 1 until there is a replacement notice.
Accordingly, to limit conflicts on Dam Quang Trung street (Aeonmall Long Bien supermarket gate area - opposite the barrier area of the Underpass Construction Investment project at Co Linh intersection, Long Bien ward), adjust the one-way traffic organization for cars from the gate of Aeonmall Long Bien supermarket to Dam Quang Trung street from 5 am to 11 pm daily.
Cars on Dam Quang Trung street who need to enter Aeonmall Long Bien supermarket, go straight through the gate on Dam Quang Trung street - turn right into Nguyen Ngoc Chan street to enter the supermarket gate on Nguyen Ngoc Chan street or the supermarket gate on Co Linh street.
In addition, to limit the traffic volume on Dam Quang Trung street, strengthen guidance for vehicles traveling on other routes.
Accordingly, in the direction of Co Linh, turn right to Dam Quang Trung - National Highway 5, vehicles will travel in the direction of Co Linh - Nguyen Ngoc Chan - Dam Quang Trung - National Highway 5.
For the Co Linh direction, turn right to Dam Quang Trung - turn around at the opening point on Dam Quang Trung street to Vinh Tuy bridge, vehicles prioritize traffic in the direction of Co Linh - Co Linh overpass - turn around at the median strip opening point on Co Linh street - turn right to Vinh Tuy bridge.
