On July 12, Ms. Tran Thi My Ha - a tour guide at Cu Lao Mai Nha (O Loan commune, Dak Lak province) - confirmed that she had recorded the moment a pair of whale mother and daughter were hunting for prey near the shore while taking visitors to watch the coral.
According to Ms. Ha, the mother whale is about 10m long, the baby whale is about 6-7m. Both continuously launch onto the water while hunting for prey.
Ms. Ha said that the Cu Lao Mai Nha area has recorded many whale appearances during the migration season.
Previously, on July 1, people also encountered a large whale hunting for prey in the Mui Dien sea area, Hoa Xuan commune (Dak Lak province).
Mr. Dao Quang Minh - Head of the Dak Lak Fisheries and Sea and Island Department - said that elephants often travel with schools of prey and the waters of Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa are currently ideal destinations during the migration season thanks to clean water and abundant food.
Mr. Minh recommends that people should keep a safe distance when encountering elephants, avoid approaching too close to avoid interrupting hunting and ensuring safety.
