On the afternoon of July 14, the Hanoi People's Committee held a meeting with 126 communes and wards on improving the quality of environmental sanitation in the city.
Commenting on the handling of pollution in the city, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung - Director of Hanoi City Police said that environmental pollution can be divided into 3 types, including: Air pollution, water pollution, solid waste pollution (waste from construction sites, production, household businesses...).
To handle environmental pollution, there need to be fundamental, long-term solutions. The Director of Hanoi City Police commented: When going out on the road, it can be seen that the power lines are as high as spider networks, many telecommunications networks are still clinging to the power poles that look very shabby and must be determined to bury them.
With the capital's advertising signs also shabby, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung said that the Capital Law already exists, so Hanoi needs to issue separate advertising signs.
Regarding violations of urban order, it is necessary to renovate main streets, and violating iron cages need to be handled and renovated on the main streets before entering small streets. In addition, tighten sidewalk management, business, and encroachment.
Providing more information at the Conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung said that Hanoi Police is promoting the application of high technology in traffic, urban and environmental management.
Currently, Hanoi City Police have completed the installation and put into operation 261 AI cameras with 10 utilities throughout the area.
"Sitting at the command center can "t just" go to Ben Duc (Huong Pagoda area), can identify each person sitting in the boat", Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung said.
Hanoi City Police are urgently installing additional camera systems to serve the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, when completing basic security and order.
Speaking more about the newly installed AI camera system, the Director of Hanoi Police said that when this system is fully deployed, it is expected that by December 18, Hanoi traffic will no longer need the Traffic Police. This system is capable of recognizing license plates, controlling traffic according to "blue lanes", regulating traffic... all of which are capable of handling.
In particular, the system has the ability to recognize faces, if there is a wanted subject, the camera can automatically recognize and report to the command center.
"In the second package, until the third quarter of 2026, all AI cameras will be able to identify the sidewalk environment, illegal dumping will be taken for handling, then people's behavior about the environment will change. It is expected that by June 2026, the system will be operational, at that time it will ensure order, including sidewalk and urban order," said Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung.
