It is not difficult to see people rushing across the railway when the warning signal has been turned on. Just a few seconds of "taking advantage", but the risk is not small. In fact, many accidents have been recorded at level crossings in the past time.
In Hanoi, the traffic police force is tightening the handling of violations like the above, especially at intersections with high risk of accidents. Along with inspection and handling, propaganda work is also being promoted to change the habits of traffic participants.

On April 9, at the Ngo Xuan Quang - Nguyen Duc Thuan intersection (Gia Lam commune), where the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line passes, Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 (CSGT) - Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police deployed forces to be on duty.
In a short time, many violations have been reminded and handled.
Mr. Tran Van D (resident in Gia Lam) was recorded for crossing the level crossing when the red light was turned on. Although admitting to seeing the signal, this person still chose to "go fast to catch up".
In another case, Ms. Nguyen Thi H (resident in Long Bien) drove a motorbike in the opposite direction in the railway safety corridor just to "take shortcuts" to be on time to take her child to school.

According to a representative of Road Traffic Police Team No. 5, these violations are not uncommon, mainly stemming from the subjective and hasty psychology of the people.
Trains cannot brake as suddenly as cars and motorbikes. Just a hasty decision, the consequences may be irreparable," shared the commander of Road Traffic Police Team No. 5.
To limit violations, Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 has installed additional propaganda signs right at the level crossing area, helping people easily observe when stopping to wait for trains. Task forces also maintain closed patrols, promptly detecting and handling intentional violations.

Statistics from the Hanoi Traffic Police Department show that in the first quarter of 2026, the entire city's traffic police force handled 352 cases of violations related to railway traffic, with a total fine of 287 million VND. The act of stopping and parking in the railway safety corridor alone accounted for 278 cases.
Functional forces recommend that people should not trade safety just to save a few minutes of travel. When the warning signal is turned on, even if the train is not seen, stopping is still a mandatory option.
