Long An voters continue to propose to speed up the negotiation progress to arrange and invest capital for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 62 from the intersection with National Highway 1 to Binh Hiep International Border Gate, Long An province.
The Ministry of Construction responds to this issue as follows:
According to the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, National Highway 62 is 114 km long, with a scale of level III roads, 2 to 4 lanes. Of which, the section through Long An province is 76 km long, and currently meets the standards of a grade IV road.
The Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) has prepared a Pre-Feasibility Study Report for the Project to upgrade and renovate 3 National Highways (53, 62, 91B) in the Mekong Delta, with WB loan capital (Project) and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval of the investment policy in Submission No. 12/TTr-BGTVT dated February 10, 2025, in which National Highway 62 through Long An province is expected to be renovated and upgraded to meet the standards of a level III road, a 12m wide roadbed, and a 11m wide road surface.
Recently, the Ministry of Finance issued Document No. 7771/BTC-DT dated June 4, 2025 to the Prime Minister. The Ministry of Finance affirmed that the Project dossier is eligible to be submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on the investment policy according to Article 18 of the Law on Public Investment No. 39/2019/QH24.
After the Prime Minister approves the investment policy, the Ministry of Construction will focus on implementing the next steps.
In which, strive to negotiate and sign a loan agreement by the end of 2025, start the project in early 2026, and complete by the end of 2027.
