Long An voters proposed to speed up the negotiation process to arrange investment capital for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 62 from the intersection with National Highway 1 to Binh Hiep border gate - Long An province.
Regarding the content of the above voters' petition, the Ministry of Transport said that according to the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, National Highway 62 is 114 km long, with a scale of a level III road, 2-4 lanes, of which the section through Long An province is 76 km long, and currently meets the standards of a level IV road.
The Ministry of Transport has prepared a Pre-Feasibility Study Report for the Project to upgrade and renovate 3 National Highways (53, 62, 91B) in the Mekong Delta, with WB loan capital (Project) and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval of the investment policy for 3 National Highways (53, 62, 91B) in document No. 12/TTr-BGTVT dated February 10, 2025, in which National Highway 62 through Long An province is expected to be renovated and upgraded to meet the standards of a grade III road.
After the Prime Minister approves the investment policy, the Ministry of Transport will focus on implementing the next steps, in which it will strive to speed up the negotiation progress to sign a loan agreement by the end of 2025.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the ministry plans to start this project in early 2026 and complete it by the end of 2027.
