On November 16, a representative of the Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Thanh Hoa province, said that through field surveys from 2024 and 2025 within the framework of the scientific research topic of the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, scientists have discovered a rare plant.

This species of spinach is named "Pink-pearl spinach", scientific name Anoectochilus roxburghii, belongs to the kimchi spinach (Anoectochilus), one of the most valuable medicinal spinach groups in Asia.
Also according to the representative of Pu Luong Nature Reserve, during the process of surveying plants in the Khuyen stream area (Co Lung commune), the trail to the top of Pu Luong (Thanh Son commune) and Son Ba Muoi (Lung Cao commune), at an altitude of 200 m to 1,650 m, scientists initially recorded about 40 plant species in the flowering state, results.
In particular, "Lan gam ngoc wonh Hong" stands out with its dark green leaves, beautiful needle glow points, not only having aesthetic value but also being highly appreciated in traditional medicine. Studies show that this species contains many precious biological compounds such as kinsenoside, flavonoids, polysaccharide... which can support the treatment of diabetes, hepatitis, immune disorders and some cancers.

The recognition of pinkwater ginger in Pu Luong not only enriches the plant system of the reserve, but also affirms the important ecological role of Pu Luong in maintaining the biodiversity corridor between the Northwest and North Central regions. This species is currently classified as endangered (EN) in the Vietnam Red Book (2024) and is in Appendix IIA of the CITES Convention, and needs to be strictly controlled in international trade" - a representative of Pu Luong Nature Reserve informed.
