Lao Cai - Authorities are searching for the missing victim while swimming across the Chay River from China to Vietnam.

On October 1, information from the People's Committee of Lung Phinh commune said that the authorities are searching for a person swept away by floodwaters while swimming across the Chay River.

Accordingly, at around 9:00 a.m. on September 30, Lung Phinh Commune Police received a report from the people about a person being swept away by floodwaters while swimming across the Chay River from China to Vietnam in Lu Di San village, Si Ma Cai commune.

Immediately afterwards, the authorities verified and identified the victim as Mr. Sung Seo Chu (born in 1993, residing in Lenh Sui Thang village, Lung Phinh commune, Lao Cai province).

Up to now, the victim has not been found. The water level of the Chay River has risen in recent days and flowed rapidly due to the impact of the storm's circulation, causing many difficulties for the search.

The People's Committee of Lung Phinh commune also requested the communes bordering the Chay River to coordinate in directing the authorities to participate in the search, and at the same time notify people living and working along the river if the victim's whereabouts are discovered, they should promptly inform the local authorities.

The commune government also recommends that people absolutely do not swim across the river in conditions of heavy rain and water flow to prevent unfortunate risks.
