On the afternoon of June 11, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Duc Luan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ta Gia Khau Commune (Muong Khuong District, Lao Cai Province) confirmed the information that the bodies of the couple who went missing on June 4 while swimming from China to Vietnam had been found.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Luan, at 7:30 a.m. on June 7, the authorities discovered a male body on the Chay River, in Ban Me Commune, Si Ma Cai District, about 4km from the original search location.
At 6:30 a.m. on June 10, the units discovered another female body at the foot of a pole at the Si Ma Cai hydroelectric project, in Na Mang village, Ta Gia Khau commune, about 4.5km from the drowning location.
Through the family's confirmation, the victims were identified as Sung - Trai (born in 1998) and his wife, Ho Seo Phung (born in 1999), both residing in Din Chin commune, Muong Khuong district.
Currently, the bodies of the two victims have been handed over to their families for funeral arrangements.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on June 4, the above couple swam from China to Vietnam at a time when the river was flowing rapidly and drowned.
As soon as the news was received, the police force, militia, security forces at the grassroots level and people with about 100 men were mobilized to search for missing victims.
