This morning (October 6), speaking with Lao Dong reporter, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh - Director of the Institute of Geophysics - said that at 9:42:39, October 6, 2024, an earthquake continued to occur in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province.
The earthquake with magnitude M=3.3 occurred at the coordinates 14.834 degrees North latitude - 108.284 degrees East longitude. The focal depth is about 8.2km. Disaster risk level: level 0.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh also added that on October 5, there were 6 earthquakes in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province.
The first earthquake here on October 5th took place at 17:06:44. The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.1.
About 1 minute later, the second earthquake of the day also occurred in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province at 17:07:23. The earthquake had a magnitude of 3.5 and occurred at the coordinates (14.890 degrees North latitude, 108.197 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of about 8.1km.
About 25 minutes later, the third earthquake of the day occurred at 17:32:01. The earthquake had a magnitude of 3.3 and occurred at the coordinates (14.882 degrees North latitude, 108.182 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of about 8.1 km.
The fourth earthquake occurred at 18:21:35 with a magnitude of 2.8 at the coordinates (14.890 degrees North latitude, 108.193 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of about 8.1km.
The fifth earthquake occurred at 19:51:16 with a magnitude of 2.8 at the coordinates (14.837 degrees North latitude, 108.220 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of about 8.1km.
The 6th earthquake of the day occurred at 22:36:50 with a magnitude of 3.4. It occurred at the coordinates (14.898 degrees North latitude, 108.199 degrees East longitude), with a focal depth of about 8.1km.
The above earthquakes all have a disaster risk level: Level 0.
According to Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, recently in Vietnam, there have been earthquakes triggered by water accumulation in reservoirs in Kon Tum. Observations show that the earthquakes in these areas have a magnitude of less than M<5. The disaster risk level is 0. However, agencies are still monitoring and researching to issue appropriate warnings.
