Provincial Road 120C project (Yen Chau - Ta Khoa) in Bac Yen district (from Km 16+200 to Km34+200) was approved by the People's Committee of Son La province under Decision No. 562/QD-UBND dated March 13, 2025, with a total investment of 700 billion VND.
In which, the People's Committee of Son La province assigned the old Yen Chau district People's Committee to be the investor of the project scope in this district (from Km0+00 to Km16+200) - with a total investment of 312.7 billion VND; assigned the old Bac Yen district People's Committee to be the investor of the project scope in this district (from Km 16+200 to Km34+200) - with a total investment of more than 376 billion VND.
On June 29, 2025, the project was started by the People's Committee of the old Yen Chau district. The project will build Provincial Road 120C connecting from sub-zone 2 (Yen Chau town, old Yen Chau district) to Ta Do village ( Ta Khoa commune, old Bac Yen district) with a length of about 34.3km.
For the project to build the section passing through the old Yen Chau district (from Km0+00 to Km16+200), the selection of contractors for construction packages (packages 13, 14, 15.) has been completed before the end of the operation of the district-level administrative unit.
After the two-level local government model came into operation, the section passing through the old Bac Yen district was transferred to the People's Committee of Ta Khoa commune as the investor (ta Khoa commune was established on the basis of arranging the entire natural area and population of the three communes: Muong Khoa, Hua Nhan and Ta Khoa of the old Bac Yen district).
With a total investment of more than 376 billion VND, the Provincial Road 120C project (Yen Chau - Ta Khoa) in Bac Yen district (from Km 16+200 to Km34+200) is the project with the largest total investment that the commune level in Son La province has ever invested.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, on August 30, 2025, the People's Committee of Ta Khoa commune announced the invitation for bids for Package No. 26 (XL): Construction and installation of No. 02 construction. This package is worth more than 117 billion VND, construction and installation of the section from Km20+800 to Km28+200, the completion time is 900 days.
1 day earlier, on August 29, 2025, the People's Committee of Ta Khoa commune announced the invitation for bidding for Package No. 25 (XL): Construction and installation of No. 01. This package is worth more than 83 billion VND, the construction and installation of the section from Km16+00 to Km20+800, the completion time is 900 days.
In the project's contractor selection plan, there is also Package No. 27 (XL): Construction and installation No. 03 with a price of nearly 118 billion VND, construction and installation of the section from Km28+504 to Km34+324 will also be implemented soon in the near future (no notice of bidding).
The Provincial Road 120C construction project is designed with a minimum roadbed width of 6.5m; road surface width of 3.5m; sidewalk width of 1.5m on each side (fortified with at least 1m on each side, the structure is like the structure of the road shirt); the section within the urban area is built according to the approved planning.
The works on the route are built permanently and in accordance with the scale of the route; traffic safety system and other auxiliary items are built in accordance with actual conditions.
The project is invested with the goal of gradually completing the planned traffic infrastructure; creating convenient inter-regional traffic connections, breaking the monopoly of National Highway 37, shortening travel distances, meeting the needs of the people in traveling, exchanging, exchanging goods and promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security between the two old districts, Yen Chau and Bac Yen in particular and Son La province in general.
