On the evening of September 8, the Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board (MRB) informed that at around 4:00 p.m. the same day, in the area of lane 7 Giang Van Minh, a mixture of mud and water overflowed onto the ground during the construction of TBM tunnel No. 2 at tunnel No. 816 (1224m from Station S09 - Kim Ma) at a depth of 15m from the ground, under Package CP03 - Construction of tunnels and underground stations of Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro.
As soon as the incident was discovered, 30 personnel and 5 mud suction trucks were mobilized with specialized equipment, sandbags and materials to conduct zoning, collecting, treating mud, cleaning the area of the mud mixture, and closely monitoring all construction activities of the TBM.

As of nearly 8:00 p.m. the same day, the amount of mud and mud has been controlled, and the recovery work is still being carried out. Temporary support for some households in lane 7 Giang Van Minh is being implemented, including arranging accommodation and accommodation, supporting temporary business suspension, while waiting for handling.
Learning from experience before, the control of the impact of this mudslide was implemented faster, the area affected by the mudslide has been isolated and isolated in a narrow area. No damage to people or works or surrounding technical infrastructure was recorded.
"We sincerely apologize to the people. From previous incidents, we have seriously learned from experience and strengthened control measures. Therefore, this time, the contractor has promptly detected and handled the situation faster, mobilized forces and equipment to isolate and collect mud, minimizing the impact on the lives of people and the surrounding environment.
We are committed to continuing to comprehensively review construction measures, improve response capacity, closely coordinate with the Management Board and local authorities, to ensure absolute safety for the community, as well as the quality and progress of the project", said Mr. Lee Young Kyeong - Deputy Project Director, representative of the main contractor of CP03 package - HGU Joint Venture.
The preliminary cause was determined, during the tunnel construction process, there were complex geological conditions in areas with loose soil and material, old water wells, old drainage culverts are no longer in use... creating a path for the mud mixture to flow onto the ground.

MrB said that the work of monitoring the ground and surface works, technical parameters of tunnel excavators has been and is being continuously deployed throughout the tunnel drilling process.
Currently, the adjustments to tunnel excavation technical specifications have been adjusted according to construction measures, and are eligible to continue construction under the close supervision of supervision consultants and investors.
In the coming time, the Project will study the comments and assessments of specialized agencies, adjust the construction/operation parameters of TBMs to suit the geological layers to minimize possible impacts.
MRB also committed to continuing to direct the Consultants and Contractors to strengthen the review of tunnel construction measures and update plans for risk prevention and reduction as well as closely coordinate with local authorities and authorities in handling similar incidents, ensuring maximum safety for people and works, minimizing impacts on people's lives, ensuring environmental sanitation during construction, maintaining the progress and quality of the Project.
