On the evening of May 3, people informed that a hailstorm and thunderstorm had just appeared in Son Tien commune.
A leader of Son Tien Commune People's Committee confirmed that ice rain occurred in the area. However, there is no information about property damage caused by ice rain. Storms have caused many hectares of rice about to be harvested to fall, the locality is compiling statistics.

In Huong Son commune, thunderstorms caused some trees to fall and break onto the road, causing traffic obstruction. The commune police coordinated with the traffic police force to quickly cut and clear to ensure safety and convenience for vehicles passing through.
Previously, at nearly 4 pm on May 3, ice rain also appeared in Bac Hong Linh ward, the stones falling down were small in size from 1cm - 2cm.
Mr. Tran Xuan Duc - Chairman of Bac Hong Linh Ward People's Committee said that there was hail in the area. However, the hail was small, so it did not cause damage to people and property.

Ha Tinh Hydrometeorological Station previously forecast that in the afternoon of May 3rd, in addition to high-altitude wind convergence, Ha Tinh area will also be affected by a low pressure trough compressed by cold air, these weather patterns combined with terrain factors, so the risk of tornadoes, lightning, and hail is very high.
The time of highest risk is concentrated from about 4 pm to 10 pm on May 3.
Faced with the risk of high thunderstorms and tornadoes, small boats operating near the shore should take shelter or take proactive precautions.
