In the early morning of March 23, in some highland communes of Tuyen Quang such as: Tung Vai, Quan Ba, Lung Tam, Nghia Thuan, ice rain and thunderstorms appeared.
Accordingly, ice rain appears from about 00:00 to 00:15 with a density of 1–1.5cm.
In Tung Vai commune, ice rain occurred in a short time but with strong intensity. Some areas of crops such as corn and green vegetables were crushed, broken, and roofs were blown off.

A similar situation also occurred in Quan Ba commune. Drizzards caused some houses in Lung Thang and Nam Dam villages to be blown off and part of their roofs collapsed; and some crop areas were damaged.
In Lung Tam commune, hailstorms and thunderstorms caused trees to fall and block the road on National Highway 4C in Coc Ma village.
Mr. Vuong Thiep, from Tung Vai commune, said: "Ice rain occurs too quickly and unexpectedly, the density of ice falling is dense. My family's roof was partially punctured, and newly planted young corn areas in the village were also crushed by ice rain.

Mr. Duc Tuyen, from Lung Tam commune, said: "After a loud explosion, hailstorms accompanied by strong winds rushed in, causing everyone in the family to panic. The hailstorm caused some Thong Nhat households to have their roofs blown off and heavily damaged.
After the natural disaster occurred, local authorities directed forces to deploy disaster recovery efforts.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ly - Chairman of Tung Vai Commune People's Committee, on the same night, the commune directed officials and forces to grasp the situation of hail and preliminary damage in villages and hamlets.
At the same time, inform people to be wary and vigilant about weather developments, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.
Currently, damage statistics are being reviewed by localities.
The North is entering a transitional period, a time when extreme weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, hail and lightning often appear. The temperature difference between the remaining cold air mass and the rapidly increasing temperature during the day makes the atmosphere unstable, creating conditions for the formation of strong thunderstorm clouds to develop.
Functional agencies recommend that people closely monitor weather developments, limit going out when there is a storm. Proactively reinforce houses and vehicles to minimize damage.
