The investment project to build the Hanoi Opera House and the thematic cultural and artistic park was invested, with a scale of 40 hectares, with a total capital of more than VND 12,756 billion in Quang An Peninsula, Tay Ho Ward.
The project includes: Modern, multi-purpose Hanoi Opera House, with a capacity of nearly 2,000 seats, serving major cultural and political events of the capital. Along with the thematic cultural - artistic park, the Hanoi Opera House will meet the creative, enjoyment and entertainment needs of the people, and at the same time be a highlight attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
The Hanoi Opera House was designed by architect Renzo Piano, one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. The most special mark of the theater is the dome architecture, inspired by the waves of West Lake, with a super thin, super durable structure and covered with a layer of material to create a trai effect, to be able to reflect the color of the West Lake water surface according to the movement of time during the day.
This will also be a project to demonstrate the world's cultural values and connections with Vietnamese culture, bringing Vietnam to the world in accordance with the direction of General Secretary To Lam: Bringing Hanoi Capital "to become a model socialist capital, developing on 5 pillars, with culture and people in the first place".


Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said that the investment project to build Hanoi Opera House and thematic Cultural - Artistic Park, a complex of key cultural works of the capital associated with the space of Quang An Peninsula - West Lake.
This is a complex of international cultural and artistic works, expressing the aspiration to build a civilized, modern, and rich in identity capital, and is one of the tasks to contribute to the development and promotion of the cultural industry, creating new cultural institutions.
According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan, implementing the Hanoi Capital Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 and Adjusting the Capital Master Plan to 2045, with a vision to 2065, culture and heritage are identified as one of the five important pillars of development.
In the context of extensive international integration, investing in iconic cultural works has great significance, affirming the position of the capital of a thousand years of culture, while promoting the image of Vietnam as innovative, creative, humane, integrated and sustainable.
The investment project to build the Hanoi Opera House and the thematic cultural and artistic park has profound humanity, the goal of serving the community, not for profit and with socialized capital, which is very rare in the world, because most large theaters are invested or sponsored by the State.
Hanoi City is committed to creating the most favorable conditions, accompanying and supporting the project to ensure progress, quality and safety, affirmed Mr. Duong Duc Tuan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang said that after completion, the Hanoi Opera House and the Cultural and Artistic Park will become a cultural project of international stature, a meaningful gift on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that the groundbreaking of the project not only demonstrates the determination to build a new cultural symbol but also a milestone affirming the thinking and strategic vision of the Party and State in developing Vietnamese culture and people - considering this a resource and driving force for the country's development.
