On November 24, Mr. Le Duy Bao - Chairman of Pho Minh Ward People's Committee said that the flood water of Tra Cau River rose high on the night of November 23, causing the houses of 70 households in Residential Group 1, Pho Minh Ward to be flooded from 30-60 cm. Some households located along Tra Cau River were flooded more than 1 meter deep. On the night of November 23, Pho Minh Ward authorities used rescue boats to help evacuate 4 deeply flooded households to safety.
According to Mr. Bao, by noon on November 24, many households in residential group 1, Pho Minh ward were still flooded. Heavy rain and rising floodwaters caused some concrete roads in residential group 1, Pho Minh ward to be flooded, and the embankment and slope of the river were eroded. The embankment of Tra Cau river was also eroded and damaged with a length of about 15m, and many sections of the Tra Cau river bank were eroded by floodwaters.
On November 24, Mr. Tran Ngoc Sang - Vice Chairman of Duc Pho Town People's Committee said that the flood water of Tra Cau River continues to rise, posing a risk of flooding low-lying areas of Duc Pho Town. Duc Pho Town People's Committee has requested localities to closely monitor forecasts and warnings of heavy rain, flooding, landslides, and promptly and fully inform authorities and people at all levels to proactively respond and minimize damage. At the same time, prepare materials, vehicles, logistics... to promptly support and evacuate people when necessary.
According to Vinasarcom of Quang Ngai province, the measured rainfall (from November 22 to 24) at Ba Dien stations was 664mm, Ba Giang 458mm, Ba Lien 471mm, Hanh Tin Tay 356mm, Pho Phong 419mm, Duc Phong 270mm, Hanh Dung 271mm, Son Nham 298mm. In addition to the rising flood water on Tra Cau river, the current flood level on Ve river at Song Ve station through Tu Nghia district is 4.14m, above alert level 2 and will rise above alert level 3 in the early afternoon of November 24.
