On August 31, Mr. Lo Duong Khanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Thai Commune (Nghe An) said that heavy rain had damaged 7 houses in Na Tong, Lung, and Can villages due to landslides.
On the night of August 30, the commune had to organize the evacuation of 20 high-risk households in Xop Nam village to safety. This is the third time in a month that the commune has had to evacuate people to avoid floods, said Mr. Khanh.
Currently, 3 spillways in Khoi, Xoong Con, Xop Nam villages are flooded, making it impossible for people and vehicles to pass. National Highway 7A through Na Tong village along with many roads to the headquarters of the People's Committee of the commune, border post and Vang Mon village were eroded, paralyzing traffic. Tam Hop Kindergarten is also at risk of drifting into Cha Nghiep stream due to serious landslides.

Tam Thai Commune People's Committee has arranged forces to put up signs, set up temporary checkpoints at deeply flooded bridges, and announce on loudspeakers for people to proactively respond. At the same time, mobilize militia, union members, and members to support clearing the soil and sand that spilled into the house and help households evacuate to a safe place.
Similarly, in Luong Minh commune, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune said that 4 inner-city villages including Da, Minh Thanh, Minh Tien, and Chinh Puong were all eroded, and many roads were cut off. The commune is urgently evacuating 12 households at high risk.
Heavy rain caused severe damage to many infrastructure items in Tam Quang commune, the most serious of which was the landslide incident at the Dinh Phong bridge over the Lam River.
According to Ms. Kha Thi Hien - Vice Chairman of Tam Quang Commune People's Committee, local heavy rains caused by storm No. 6 caused landslides on positive slopes in many places, and damaged the bridge abutments, seriously affecting local traffic.

In particular, at Dinh Phong bridge connecting Dinh Phong village, Yen Hoa commune with Tam Dinh commune, the entire bridge abutment was deeply eroded, almost digging into one side of the lane. At the foot of the bridge, the rock and soil foundation was swept into the river, posing a potential risk of collapse.
Currently, the water level of Lam River and many other rivers in Nghe An is rising, many areas have been flooded, hundreds of households have to be evacuated.
Nghe An province has issued an urgent telegram, directing the implementation of disaster response measures.
