More than 800 people in 2 extremely disadvantaged villages are isolated
After the impact of storm No. 5, Giang Pang village has 95 households, 510 people, Lang Manh village has 59 households, 310 people, are two particularly difficult villages, nearly 20km from the center of Son Luong commune, still isolated by landslides.
The road from Nam Muoi village to Giang Pang is 7km long, mainly mountain roads, steep passes, through many streams, and has not been solidified. After the recent heavy rains, rocks and soil from the mountains slid down the road, cars could not circulate, making it extremely difficult to travel by motorbike.
Meanwhile, the road from Giang Pang to Lang Manh is 10km long, completely paralyzed, dozens of landslides, thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil are lying on the road.




According to the reporter, the roads are muddy, muddy, and one landslide connects another, making it difficult to move around. Not to mention, on high mountains, large rocks and trees are tilted, posing a potential risk of landslides at any time.
For many days, households here have been isolated, and relief work has been difficult due to continued heavy rain.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Luong Commune said that heavy rain lasting from August 26 to 27 has isolated some villages such as Khe Trang, Tham Coc, Lang Manh, Giang Pang... due to landslides burying roads.
Immediately after the storm passed, local authorities mobilized forces to urgently repair routes to villages to grasp the situation and promptly overcome the consequences of storms and floods.




However, the road from Nam Muoi village to Giang Pang, Lang Manh is mainly a dirt road, with difficult terrain, the entire 17km long road has up to 67 landslides (from Nam Muoi to Giang Pang is 13 points, Giang Pang to Lang Manh is 54 points), estimated at tens of thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil.
Urgently opening a road to bring students to school
On the morning of August 28, the Son Luong commune working group led by the Trinh Xuan Thanh commune Party Committee Secretary walked 7km in heavy rain to reach Giang Pang village.
At noon of the same day, when arriving at the scene to grasp the situation, the forces divided into 2 directions, a group stayed with the people to evacuate households at risk of landslides to a safe place.



At the same time, mobilize human resources to urgently repair traffic routes so that motorbikes can travel, helping to transport food and relief smoothly.
The Secretary of the Son Luong Commune Party Committee shared: "The most difficult thing is not being able to mobilize large excavators to clean up. In recent days, the weather has been erratic, the risk of landslides continues, and the route has encountered countless difficulties".
All people in the two villages of working age proactively brought hoes, shovels... to pick up rocks and clear mud to soon circulate the road.


By the morning of August 29, the working group of Son Luong commune had approached Lang Manh village. Here, Secretary of the Lang Manh Village Party Cell Ho A Tru said: "In the village, food is still guaranteed, oil for use in 2 rice stir-frying machines is being used by people in rotation.
Relief from Son Luong and Giang Pang communes is being maintained, people in the village share the walk to receive the relief goods, then transport them to distribute to the people".
Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh - Secretary of Son Luong commune added that out of more than 800 people in the two villages, nearly half are children of preschool, primary and secondary school age. Nearing the new school year, the most important thing right now is to temporarily clear the road at all costs so that motorbikes can travel.




"After the road is cleared, I urgently take the children to school in time for school. Temporarily, children stay at school until the landslides are repaired. For the younger children who cannot go yet, the school will organize make-up classes later," said Son Luong Commune Secretary.
With the current progress, it is expected to open the road from Nam Muoi to Giang Pang within 3 days. The road from Giang Pang to Lang Manh in the next 7 days will help people feel secure living.
